The CAPTA Grant Program is designed for PTAs to build and grow student achievement, parent engagement and family involvement to make a difference in our communities. 

California State PTA’s Program Grants are available to unit, council and district PTAs in good standing.

Instructions & Qualifications

These unique annual grants are geared to address four initiatives of major interest to
​our children, schools and members.

Cultural Arts Grants

Cultural Arts Grants are available for a variety of PTA programs and projects that develop and implement student-centered cultural arts programs focused on arts education such as:
  • ​Arts communications brochures
  • Art docent programs
  • Fine and Performing Art demonstrations
  • Performing Arts assemblies
  • Read-a-thons
  • Storytellers

Healthy Lifestyle Grants

Healthy Lifestyle Grants are available for a variety of PTA programs and projects involving student activities such as:
  • Aerobic activities
  • Dance/ exercise classes
  • Getting smart about media and health
  • Health and Fitness Awareness Week
  • Health Fairs
  • Suicide and Teen Depression Awareness
  • Sun Safety Awareness
  • ​Walking or running programs with walking logs

Outreach Translation Grants

Outreach Translation Grants are available for a variety of PTA programs and projects such as:
  • Activities to build and strengthen a PTA’s central involvement in its school community
  • Activities to encourage and facilitate the engagement of non-English-speaking parents in PTA meetings, programs and events
  • Programs to enhance family/ school communications and partnerships
  • Translating PTA information and materials including items such as flyers, handouts or website content into other languages
  • Translation at PTA meetings, programs and events

Parent Education Grants

Parent Education Grants are available for developing and implementing programs and projects aimed at enhancing parent education such as:
  • Creating a parent resource center or parenting library
  • Designing a forum focusing on children with special needs
  • Developing a program to help families transition to middle school and high school
  • Offering workshops to grow student success
  • Organizing a parent action seminar on a community or campus issue
  • Providing information in school newsletters on preparing healthy meals
